In a cruel move to international students, the UK Home Secretary, Suella Braverman is touting the prospect of cutting the length of time a student can stay in the UK after graduation.

Currently once an individual has a student visa, they can stay in Britain for two years after completing their studies to find work. This rule was introduced from 1st July 2021.
In a bid to meet the Conservatives’ pledge to cut immigration and reduce the number of unskilled foreign individuals to tens of thousands, Ms Braverman proposed the shocking option.
Another option considered is to commit to the pledge is to restrict visa applications to individuals who have certifications in skill shortage areas, for example engineering.
Education officials are against such move, saying it will make the UK an unwelcoming country “and hostile to international students”.
