Christopher Omoregie, 28, who is serving jail time for murder has had his minimum reduced from life imprisonment.

The elder brother of music star Dave was one of three teenagers found guilty of murdering 15-year-old Sofyen Belamouadden at a Victoria Tube station in 2010.

The now 28 year old was around 18 years old when he got the most severe punishment partially due to the fact that the knife used to kill Sofyen was found in his bag.
He was given a life sentence at the Old Bailey in April 2012 to serve a minimum sentence of 18 years.
Christopher submitted his case for review.
The High Court found Omoregie had made “exceptional and unforeseen progress”. They found he had taken part in a therapy Psychodrama successfully – the inspiration behind Dave’s same titled album.

He had also showed high level of remorse towards Sofyen and the family, writing an apology letter to them. He began schooling and counts his mother and brother, Santan Dave as his protector and life motivators.

As such, Mr Justice Dove recommended that he should be given a chance of an early prison release. Christopher will now be eligible for parole one year earlier than sentence so long as he does not pose a danger to the public.
