Ten years ago, Yasmin – Kaduna State Governor’s eldest daughter – died at her London residence aged 25.

The eldest daughter of the governor, was said to be studying for a master’s degree in the UK’s London School of Economics at the time.
Yasmin’s mother, Hadiz Isma El-Rufai posted a poignant tribute on 26 November in an Instagram post simply captioning; “Exactly ten years today. Still missing out…”.
The Kaduna State Governor’s wife revealed on the launch of the Yasmin El-Rufai Foundation that her daughter died from an epileptic seizure in her London flat, and the foundation was opened to keep Yasmin’s passion for creative writing alive.
The foundation is targeted at women who dropped out of school either to get married or due to poverty; and cannot write or speak in English.
