Libianca, an American-Cameroonian blew Tik-Tok users away when she sampled People a couple of months ago. Since then, the unique star has gone from strength to strength.

Here is a few things to know about her plus lyrics to her hit song, Libianca.

1. Brief Bio

The songstress was born Libianca Kenzonkinboum Fonji to Cameroonian parents in Minnesota, America in 2001. She moved to Bamenda in Cameroon from aged 4 to 13 years old, hence the reference in the song.

When she returned, she pursued music with support of her parents. Dad was once her manager while mum paid for her voice lessons. She signed her first record deal at 16 and appeared on The Voice USA in 2021 where she was voted off at the live finals.

2. How “People” blew from Tik-Tok

Libianca samples most of her songs on Tik-Tok to her followers before deciding if it is worth releasing. On the fateful day of 21 November 2022, Libianca dropped People. With millions of views and comment overnight, Libianca was thrown into an all new spotlight.

This prompted the video release on 19 January 2023.

3. What the song is about

Libianca said to Rolling Stone; “I wrote this song when I felt unheard… UNSEEN. To everyone who has resonated with my overflow of emotion through this song, THANK YOU!”

The song is about someone who is pretending to be ok on the outside, but really suffering depression behind closed doors, and nobody checks on them.

WE’RE DOING THIS FORREAL Y’ALL! I actually get to throw the 9-5 jobs away and use my gift full time. I love every single one of you my Libeauties. 2023 is gonna be a great year for us in Jesus’ name”
