Governor Obaseki have paid tribute and a visit to the families of Festus Idahosa and Elizabeth Osadebamwen Owie who were fatally shot at their polling units in Benin City, Edo State, Nigeria.
The man and woman on election day on Saturday 25th February 2023, were said have casted their votes and were waiting to make sure the stats were submitted.

Sadly, thugs arrived at the polling unit in Ogheghe, Sapele road, Benin city, Edo State at around 7pm and began shooting. A stray bullet hit 43 year old Elizabeth who was then rushed to hospital but died from her injuries.
33 year old Festus was said to have voted and was helping ensure the people’s votes were submitted successfully before the hooligans arrived and

A popular graduate of Mythological Engineering at the Federal University of Technology Akure (FUTA), Mr Idahosa was said to have been shot and killed instantly, while another person remains in hospital from gun-shot.
The graduate of Mythological Engineering from the Federal University of Technology, Akure, Ondo State, left his base in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, to vote in his home town.
In his tribute, the Governor said; “It’s sad that this sort of electoral violence still happens at this stage of our development. We condole with the families of the deceased persons. The police have already commenced investigation to bring the perpetrators of the evil acts to justice.”
