Celebrities and the no-nonsense citizens of Nigeria took a stand worldwide as they went to the street to peacefully voice their anger on SARS.

Their voices were finally heard as the government officially announced the end of SARS.

In official uniformed tweets released by the presidency’s handle, the government wrote, “Presidential Directive: The Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) of the Nigeria Police Force @PoliceNG has been dissolved WITH IMMEDIATE EFFECT. The Inspector General of Police will communicate further developments in this regard.

This news came out shortly after Nigerians in the UK stormed Nigeria’s High Commission in London chanting “#EndSARS’. Celebrities including Athlete, Mike Edwards, global stars, WizKid, Mr Eazi and Smade were among protesters.

Protests were also held in Canada and Dublin, Ireland

The #EndSARS protest resumed again in 2020 when a video clip emerged on Twitter of a witness claiming SARS operatives had murdered a young man and took off with his Lexus Jeep.

More outcry came as many more victims – dead and alive – were revealed with in depth information of the trauma they went through in the hands of SARS.

This In the end, the NG Government finally heard its citizens and made the move to dissolve SARS.
