How Naira Marley and Khafi Kareem left the UK to make it big in Nigeria

Should we take a leaf from these people’s book if you are looking to blow in Nigeria and are from abroad.

In the streets of UK, these two were relatively unknown.

Kafilat Kareem, popularly known as ACupofKhafi was an ordinary UK police officer living in London, used by Scotland Yard as its poster girl to encourage people of ethnic minority into the force.

While a police officer, the 20 year old Ekiti girl was trying to get her YouTube channel off the ground for years. She promoted herself as a presenter, YouTuber, book author, a good girl and member of the police force.

One faithful day when vlogging the Nigeria 2019 Elections, she saw and decided to apply for Big Brother Nigeria 2019.

Post eviction from Big Brother Naija and Scotland Yard police trying to throw her under the bus, Khafi’s YouTube channel and all social media pages sky rocketed to their thousands. As of now, Khafi has 367k Instagram followers, almost 10k on YouTube and 29k on Twitter.

A little bit similar to Khafi’s is Naira Marley overnight celebrity status.

Ordinarily known as Azeez Fashola to his family, friends and the police force who constantly locked him up, Naira was a guy, who entered London and straight into the South East at 11 years of age.

From all of his videos where chain smoking never seem to end, the four children by two girlfriends called wives and the typical its-not-looking-well early beginnings bashment videos, it would have been too easy to write-off the 24 year old.

But since dropping ‘Issa Goal‘ which became Nigeria’s Football anthem for the World Cup and the controversial ‘Am a a Yahoo boy‘ which got him thrown into a cell by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) – and Nigerians never want to hear such particularly if you had no real reason – Naira Marley’s popularity has sky rocketed.

As at now, Naira currently has 1.4 million Instagram followers, 75k twitter followers and 130k YouTube subscribers.

Had the two remained in the UK, what would have become of them?
